This cylinder recording is from around 1912 and has the voice of one of Europe's great sopranos. Kurz was very well known for her trills, which she made use of as often as possible. There were attempts by the Edison Company to transcribe her cylinders to disc in the 1920's. This discs were made to skirt the issue of disc record contracts, however, these discs were never released.

OK, even if you're not a big fan of opera (like me) and not a big fan of opera singers (like me again), you gotta admit that this girl knows how to sing. Full of great voice tricks and masterful singing, I was duily impressed at how easy she pulls this one off. Very very well done.
